Monks at Sera Jey Monastery

Sera Jey Monastery life

The majority of the monks at Sera Jey are refugees who walked for as much as one month to leave Tibet and come to study/practice/meditate at the Monastery. They left carrying their clothes and food literally on their backs. 

All the Sera Jey monastery food is covered from the interest that is raised from an endowment that was offered by FPMT. FPMT has been providing all the food at the Monastery for free for the last 26 years and in 2017 also offered an endowment so that now all the food is covered from the interest from that. The endowment was entirely offered to the Monastery in 2018 and is now managed by the Monastery.
