Bodhisattva Aspirations

I've been thinking a lot lately about why I contribute to Kadampa Center. With apologies to my Bodhisattva aspirations, I recognize that my contributions are quite self-serving. What it comes down to, for me, is that when I give time or resources, I get so much more in return. I support Kadampa Center because I want to continue to have access to the lessons I learn here . that help me move closer to living my life as the person I want to become.
I give to Kadampa Center in the hopes that Geshe Gelek will remain to help teach us; that, like Ven. Tendron and Geshe Sangpo have done, more sangha will join the community; that teachings will be available to all in the Triangle who want to hear them; and that a community of practitioners will have a place to come together to support one another. As I write my monthly check to Kadampa Center, I rejoice in paying the most important of my utility bills - the one that keeps my internal lights on.
As the year-end appeal for donations makes its way through the mail system to our doors, I rejoice in all we have done as a community this year. There are many ways we all work to keep our Center thriving: dedicating practice, volunteering time, donating money. I am grateful to everyone who helps with the moment-to-moment re-creation of our spiritual home. I am blessed by your efforts.
With much appreciation and Big Love,
Sharla
